Chia seed jam recipe

Chia seed jam recipe

Sharing with you this super quick and simple raspberry chia seed jam. I love chia seeds as they are packed with so many nutrients and they are great for our curl health too. Not only that but our gut micobes love them too! I would say that is a win, win. Here are a few facts about chia seeds.

  • They consist of over 19% protein which is wonderful for our body and contains 9 amino acids.
  • They contain copper an zinc which is great for hair health. In particular, copper helps reduce hair thinning.
  • Zinc also helps in repairing damage and preventing scalp infections.

140g of frozen berries of choice, I chose raspberries

120ml of water

1 tablespoon of chia seeds

Optional a squeeze of honey

Warm your berries of choice in a small pan over a medium heat on the hob and add the water. Keep stirring and as the berries start to heat help them along by squashing them with your spoon. Continue for around 10 – 12 minutes. Be careful not to let the mixture boil.

Then add the chia seeds, continue to warm and stir, after a few minutes the mixture should start to thicken. Once thickened to your desired consistency remove from the heat and add a squeeze of honey if using or vegan alternative.

You can then use straight away in your breakfast like porridge or allow to cool and refrigerate. The mixture should last in your fridge for ~ 3 days. You can add this jam to your porridge, have it on toast or with some natural yoghurt.
